AVID Center

  • To expand and enhance the use of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) in the Oceanside and Poway Unified School Districts.

 

California Charter Schools Association

  • To find more cost-effective ways for local charters to provide special education services to their students.
  • To support the participation of San Diego-based schools in the California Charter Quality Institute.

 

Children's Scholarship Fund

  • To extend existing scholarships which enable low-income children to attend private schools of their choice.

 

Elementary Institute of Science

  • To support the Institute's hands-on science enrichment programs for inner-city school children.

 

Family Literacy Foundation

  • To support the Youth Reading Role Models Program in which high school students read to preschool students at childcare centers in their communities.

 

Gompers Charter Middle School

  • To support the transformation of this previously-failing, inner-city school into a college-preparatory charter school.

 

High Tech High

  • Continuing support for the charter management organization that provides oversight and services to the High Tech High family of schools.

 

Jr. Achievement of San Diego

  • To support a pilot test of Enterprise Village, a simulated city that teaches the basics of the free enterprise system to elementary school students.

 

Keiller Leadership Academy

  • To support the transformation of this previously-failing, inner city school into a college-preparatory charter school.

 

OASIS Institute

  • For the Intergenerational Tutoring Program, in which senior citizens volunteer to tutor elementary school children in reading and language arts.

 

Oceanside High School

  • Continued support the Girard PREP Program which promotes scholastic excellence and encourages students to pursue college degrees.

 

Pacific Research Institute

  • To provide general support for the Center for School Reform.

 

Parent Institute for Quality Education

  • For programs that help parents take a more active role in their children's education.

 

Rolling Readers, USA

  • General support of the local Read-Aloud and Book Giveaway programs.

 

San Diego Economic Development Corporation

  • To promote the implementation of Project Lead the Way, a pre-engineering curriculum for middle and high students.

 

San Diego Education Fund

  • To provide scholarships for low-income students pursuing teaching credentials.

 

San Diego Foundation

  • For The Teachers' Fund which provides mini-grants to new teachers for creative classroom projects.

 

Summerbridge San Diego

  • To support an intensive four-week summer camp for high-risk 5th and 6th graders, taught by high-school and college students interested in teaching careers.

 

UCSD Foundation for the Jacobs School of Engineering

  • To support the TIES (Teams In Engineering Service) program, which.
