How To Apply

The Board of Trustees meets quarterly to review proposals and award grants. Applicants receive notification of the decision within two weeks of the board meeting.

The first step in submitting a proposal is to call the Foundation at (858) 551-0881 to determine if your project fits in our guidelines. At that point, you may be asked to submit a 1-2 page letter of inquiry. If there is a match, our staff will encourage you to submit a full proposal and give you the current deadline for submittals.

Your proposal should be brief--under ten pages, if possible. The Foundation staff will let you know if more information is needed. Your proposal should include the following:

Cover Sheet
	Please use our Grant Application Form.
Introduction
	A brief description of your project/program, its purpose and the support you are requesting from Girard Foundation.
Background
	Information about the need or issue you are addressing and the population your program serves; comments on how your project relates to other programs.
Methods
	A description of how the project/program will be implemented; the timeline for implementation; information about how the program will be sustained and/or replicated in the future.
Outcomes
	The measurable results you expect to achieve.
Evaluation plan
	Details on how you plan to evaluate the program and disseminate the results.
Budget
	The total budget for the project; details on how the Girard Foundation Grant will be used; information about other sources of funding including in-kind support. Financial statements for the requesting organization should be provided as an addendum.
Organization
	Information about your organization including its experience in the area for which funds are being sought; a list of board members; names and qualifications of the staff involved; information about other organizations collaborating on the project.
Tax-Exempt Status
	Copy of IRS letter confirming tax-exempt status.
